Dr. Ayman Radwan

We are privileged to welcome our Program Chair, whose deep understanding and leadership will significantly contribute to the richness of our event.

About

Ayman Radwan received his M.A.Sc. degree in Systems and Computer Engineering, with emphasis on DSP, from Carleton University, Ottawa, ON, Canada, in 2003, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, focusing on wireless networking, from Queen University, Kingston, ON, Canada, in 2009. He is an Assistant Professor with the University of Aveiro, and a Senior Researcher with the Institute de Telecomunicaes, Aveiro, Portugal. He is intensively active in EU projects. He has acted as the coordinator of multiple EU joint research projects, with international partners. He is currently coordinating the EU project CELTIC-NEXT SAFE-HOME, with emphasis on eHealth, and energy efficient fog-cloud networking. He was involved in multiple successful proposals, raising more than $2M in funding for his own institute. He has more than 150 published highly cited peer-reviewed articles. His research interests include network architectures (specifically 5G and beyond), fog-cloud networking, loT, and eHealth. He is currently acting as the Secretary of the IEEE eHealth TC.

Dr. Oteafy received his PhD in 2013 from Queen’s University, ON, Canada, focusing on adaptive resource management in Next Generation Sensing Networks; introducing the notion of Organic sensor networks that adapt to their environment, and scale with resource augmentation. He is actively engaged in the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), and is a Professional member in both IEEE and ACM, having joined them since 2008. Dr. Oteafy is the IEEE ComSoc Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks (AHSN) Standards Liaison, and on the ComSoc Tactile Internet standards Working Group.

AHMED M. ATTIYA (Member, IEEE) received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communications, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, in 1996 and 2001, respectively. He joined as a Researcher Assistant with the Electronics Research Institute, in 1991. He was a Postdoc- toral Researcher with the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, from 2002 to 2004, a Visiting Scholar with the Electrical Engineering Department, University of Mississippi, from 2004 to 2005, and a Visiting Teaching Member with King Saud University, from 2008 to 2012. He is currently a Full Professor and the Head of the Microwave Engineering Department, Electronics Research Institute

About

Amr El Mougy joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The American University in Cairo (AUC) in the fall of 2023. He specializes in cybersecurity, networks, and autonomous systems. He obtained his PhD from Queen’s University, Canada, in 2013, his MSc from Concordia University, Canada, in 2006, and his BSc from Ain Shams University, Egypt, in 2003.
Before joining AUC, El Mougy was an associate professor and vice dean of the faculty of media engineering and technology, at the German University in Cairo (2014 - 2023). He introduced and taught courses in cryptography, web security, network security, and computer networks. He also established the Internet of Things lab and the Autonomous Driving Car Lab. He has led projects that discovered novel security attacks and proposed novel solutions to various threats. He also led the team that developed a functional autonomous driving car capable of complex navigation and maneuvers. Before the German University in Cairo, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Ottawa University (2013), where he worked on security and privacy solutions for LTE-based public safety networks. El Mougy has over 70 refereed publications in his various research areas of interest
